French · Morning Brief

Practise French speaking every day, without opening an app.

French rewards people who speak it out loud and punishes people who only read it. Morning Brief rings you every morning for five minutes in French, Quebec or France, and keeps the things you got wrong so they come back until you get them right.

A French call, start to finish
Cadi

Bon matin ! Pis, c'était comment ta fin de semaine ?

Good morning! So, how was your weekend?

You

C'était bien. Samedi j'ai allé au marché Jean-Talon avec mon chum.

It was good. On Saturday I went to the Jean-Talon market with my boyfriend.

Cadi

Ah, belle idée ! Vous avez acheté quoi ? Et cette semaine, tu travailles beaucoup ?

Nice idea! What did you buy? And this week, are you working a lot?

You

Oui, mais vendredi je vais prendre congé.

Yes, but on Friday I'm taking the day off.

This learner chose Quebec French. "J'ai allé" is saved for the recap; the conversation keeps going.

How it works

Four steps to your first call

  1. French, already picked

You came here for French, so that step is done. You can change it on the next screen.

  2. Your number and a time

Create an account, add your mobile number, and choose when mornings suit you, in your own time zone.

  3. 7 days free, no card

Your calls start straight away. We only ask for payment if you want to keep them after the first week.

  4. Your phone rings

Cadi calls, you chat for about five minutes, and your recap is waiting when you hang up.

The French you know on paper is not the French you can say

French grammar is learnable on paper. Saying it at speed is a different skill: choosing avoir or être in the passé composé, getting the gender right on the fly, knowing when "je suis allé" and when "j'allais". These decisions happen in a fraction of a second, and they only get fast through repetition out loud.

Many French learners in Canada hit the same wall. Years of school French, a good reading level, and then a real conversation at work or with neighbours where nothing comes out. A short call every morning is a low-stakes place to get the words moving again.

Cadi follows your accent choice. If you live in Montreal or Ottawa, pick Quebec French and practise the French you hear around you. If you are heading to France, pick metropolitan French.

After the call

The French mistakes that come back to you

After each call you get a recap. These are typical fixes, and each becomes a review card you can practise in a minute.

  • J'ai allé au marchéJe suis allé au marchéAller takes être in the passé composé.
  • Je suis 30 ansJ'ai 30 ansAge uses avoir in French.
  • Je suis excité pour demainJ'ai hâte d'être à demain"Excité" sounds wrong here; "avoir hâte" is the natural way to say it.
Morning Brief

Less than one tutor hour a month

CA$49/month for a call every morning. One hour with a private tutor usually costs CA$60–100. This does not replace that hour; it makes it count.

With a French tutor once a week, the calls are the practice in between. You bring your recaps, and your tutor can spend the hour on the mistakes that keep coming back instead of finding them.

7 days free with no card. Then CA$49/month (or CA$490/year) if you want to keep your calls.

Questions

Quebec French or France French?

Your choice. Cadi speaks metropolitan, Quebec, Belgian or Swiss French, and you can switch in Settings whenever you like.

Is this good practice for the TEF or TCF?

It builds the daily speaking habit those exams reward, but it is a conversation, not a mock exam. If you are preparing for a test, see our TEF and TCF speaking practice page.

Will the call be too fast for me?

Beginners get a slower call with short questions and some English. Anyone can set Cadi's speed from very slow to fast, and how long she waits before she answers.

What do I get after the call?

A recap of the call, your corrections with a better way to say each one, and new words turned into review cards.

How much does it cost?

7 days free with no card. Then CA$49/month (or CA$490/year) if you want to keep your calls.

Speak out loud every morning. Watch it get easier.
